  • A group of loggers stumbled upon an ancient Hellic Graveyard in the Cradle Wood. It was overgrown with mature trees and undergrowth. Before they knew what was upon them, a bunch of skeletons attacked and they were forced to flee. Luckily, the skeletons seemed content to stay in the confines of the graveyard, and did not pursue. Reportedly, the graveyard was just to the east of an old encampment that looks to have been abandoned for a few months…(Any GM)
  • Hordes of goblins live in the Goblin Warrens below the Howling Moor. Various entrances provide access to any hardy adventuring group looking to slaughter the breeding filth. (Any GM)
  • An old map was found in a magic backpack of a deceased explorer in the Goblin Warrens. After much study it was determined that the map led to the location of the Tomb of Marcus Licinius Metellus (GM Donegal)
  • A valuable artifact called the Fire Opal, is said to be secreted in an abandoned monastery beyond the Pike Forest. A red wrymling was encountered there and defeated! (Dungeon Bash, Site found). (GM PDF)
  • An Old Wizard Tower dating from the Verundian era stood on a small island in the northern part of the Coppice Lakes region. It has been completely explored and looted, though who knows what new monsters may have moved in … In fact, fishermen now report seeing lights at night in the former Elemetnal Tower (GM atmcnemar)
  • The Vault of Kings, an Ancient Dwarven complex filled with unimaginable riches, is said to be located somewhere in the Granite Mountains. A group of adventurers led by Ebban Goblinslayer, proud member of the Goblinslayer clan, believe they found a clue to the location of the entrance and encountered undead dwarven warriors.   • Watch out for Bees!: Tin Miners have reported Giant Bee sightings all across the Howling Moor. One group was attacked on their way back to Blackmire and an unfortunate miner was killed! The Miners Guild is offering a reward of 500 GP if the hive is found and destroyed. Tumblebelly Import/Export on the other hand is offering more substantial and continuous profits if the Bees can be controlled and the honey extracted for shipment back east. (GM Donegal)
  • Another party of adventurers from Blackmire went missing last month after claiming to find an ancient fortress in the southernmost reaches of the Cobalt Spur (hex 64.27). Two members of the ill-fated party were brother and sister, Jim and Jen Helifer. They were from an important merchant family from back east and the family matriarch, Yellah Helifer has traveled to Blackmire hoping to commission the rescue of her children. She offers a 1000gp reward for their safe return, or 250gp for the return of their signet rings. Dungeon Bash (levels 1-3). (GM PDF)
  • The Infamous Blackguard Hurazrod is rumored to have built a keep far to the west beyond the Pike Forest and Mirthful Meadows region. He and his minions needed a safe base of operations from where they could strike at the civilized lands to the east. In response, a huge host of knights and men-at-arms led by the King’s Justicar, the famous Sir Tomman the Bold, have arrived in Blackmire. Each knight accompanying Sir Tomman has previously fought undead, devils, and the like. They plan to find Hurazrod, destory him and his evil minions, and then lay waste to his lair. The next day the host set out and returned two weeks later, having killed Hurazrod and destroyed his keep. After feasting at the Winning Wager, the victorious host headed back east. All thought that Hurazrod was defeated until rumors of a ghost haunting the destroyed keep began circulating through Blackmire. Perhaps Hurazrod was not completely defeated? (GM PDF)
  • General Calvinius will pay a 25gp bounty for every Hobgoblin belonging to the Church forces you kill. As proof, he wants the badge the Hobgoblin wore. In addition, he will pay 200gp for every Ogre Auxilia you kill. As proof, he wants the badge the Ogre wore. (GM khoffman21076)
  • Livestock has been disappearing from homesteads on the edge of the Rattlin’ Bog. One farmer swears that one of his sheep was carried into the swamp by a Dragon! (GM PDF)
  • A young maiden has disappeared from a farm on the outskirts of Blackmire. She was last seen heading into the Rattlin’ Bog in search of Swamp Oil. (GM PDF)
  • A bard named Ruallin has been telling a story of ancient Forbidden Love that needs a hardy band of adventurers in order to bring about closure … (Epic Multi-part Quest). (GM PDF)
  • Discovered amongst the notes found in the Silver Mine, is the origin of the mounts the Hobgoblin Equites ride. They come from a region several kilometers to the South and West of the mine. According to the notes, this region is home to many unique animals and monsters. (GM khoffman21076)
  • PCs with Knowledge: Local or Knowledge: Geography +5 or better (Cat is the only one I see although this is not an adventure hook for Cat per se) notice a steady trickle of builders, masons and laborers heading into and then out of town escorted by men-at-arms who keep them from talking to anyone in Blackmire. No one seems to know where they are going or what they are building, or who ordered this Mysterious Construction. (GM Donegal)
  • The Blackmire River Level is abnormally low for this time of year. While the decrease is not significant enough to be having any practical impacts (no impact to river traffic or the ecology), it is troubling. Levels in the Mirth and Moss Rush Rivers are reported to be normal. Also of note, a recent group of loggers took a small craft up the Blackmire River to do some logging in the Pike Forest and never returned…nor did the second group of loggers that went looking for them.   • Local legend tells of a Dwarven Druid who lived many centuries ago in the caverns beneath Pike Forest. The story goes that he was a talented master of the subterranean ecosystem with the aid of several cherished magic items (stories differ as to what they may have been). Later in life a madness overtook him. Some stories say it was the solitude, others blame this or that rumored magic device. His remains and possessions are said to still be in the caves.   • Agents of Danglar Shipping have reported that a new group of River Pirates have attacked several riverboats on the Blackmire River. Danglar is offering a 20 GP reward for the capture or death of each Pirate, as well as a 1,000 GP reward for exterminating this group completely. The last group of River Pirates was operating out of The Sunken Fort in hex 70.31 in the Rattlin’ Bog. (GM Donegal)
  • Coppice Lakes fishermen report the southwestern lake to be too dangerous to fish and whisper tales of an Ancient Structure beneath the water promising death (or unknown riches) to any who dare to approach it. (GM khoffman21076)
  • A particularly pale looking trapper walks into the Winning Wager, goes straight to the giant map on the wall and shades one of the hexes black (hex 70.13). When questioned, he claims that the Dead Animals of the forest have risen and now attack the living. (GM khoffman21076)
  • Anyone with 3 ranks in Knowledge History is aware that there is an abandoned Verundian Outpost in the vicinity of hex 77.14, though who or what might have taken up residence there is unknown. (GM atmcnemar)
  • Two separate groups of Orcs have been encountered in the Craddle Wood with and inordinate amount of Strange Silver Coins in their possession. (GM Donegal)
